WGBS TV7's New Coverage Area Reaches over 1 Million Viewers!

The
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted WGBS TV7 a construction permit
and license to increase its power in July 2003. The power upgrade moves WGBS TV7
into the category of a "Medium Power" station. TV7 was originally based in
Hampton during the nineties but now broadcasts with over ten times its original
power from a tower location in Portsmouth, VA. The TV7 signal covers
Portsmouth, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Suffolk, Poquoson, York
County, Newport News, Virginia Beach and Isle of Wight. Expansion to
Tidewater cable viewers is in the works. Stay Tuned!

with a culturally diverse population of 1.5 million residents and is the
fourth largest metropolitan statistical area in the southeastern United
States.

Hampton Roads is known for its numerous tourist attractions, from the
historic Colonial Williamsburg to the sandy beaches of Virginia Beach.
The region attracts about 4 million visitors a year.
Although the port, military, tourism and service industries are the
mainstay of the economic base, in recent years the area has attracted
major businesses. Some of these companies include: UPS Service Center ,
MCI Service Center , Canon Virginia , QVC cable network, Lillian Vernon,
Ford Motor Company and many more.
