Astronaut Leland Melvin Lifts Off February 7th, 2008!

WGBS TV7 provides a look at the family of Astronaut Leland Melvin as he
blasts off on STS-122 on the space shuttle Atlantis. Astronaut Melvin became
the first person to play in the NFL and go into space. Family, friends,
co-workers, team mates, teachers, and others discuss how Leland has touched
their lives. In addition, young people are encouraged to set goals and
pursuit their dreams. WGBS TV7 is proud to provide up close, and personal coverage of Astronaut Leland Melvin's first space mission.

WGBS TV7 Anthology
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted WGBS TV7 a construction permit and license to increase its power in July 2003. The power upgrade moves WGBS TV7 into the category of a "Medium Power" station. TV7 was originally based in Hampton during the nineties but now broadcasts with over ten times its original power from a tower location in Southside Hampton Roads
